MISSION The mission of the Manatee Community Concert Band is to bring together talented musicians of all ages to perform a diverse range of concert band music, entertain our community audiences, and advance the talents of our student members. Through our band rehearsals and concerts, we promote the love of music and "Keep the Music Playing."
The Manatee Community Concert Band (MCCB) provides a limited number of scholarships to student members for the 2025-2026 concert season. Scholarships are available to college students and public, private, and verified home-schooled high school or middle school students who are members of the MCCB in good standing, which includes preparation and regular attendance at rehearsals and concerts.
REQUIREMENTS Scholarship awards are determined exclusively by the MCCB Board of Directors, taking into account specified eligibility criteria, available funding, and the volume of applications received. The applications requirements for an MCCB scholarship are:
Submit the scholarship Application form within the starting and closing dates in printed format (at a rehearsal) or printable online format (including by email) including all required names and their contact information.
Submit an essay describing your musical background and how the award will support your musical goals. It may include comments on what inspired you to play an instrument and how the MCCB has impacted you.
A letter of recommendation submitted by a teacher, mentor, band director, or music coach who can assess and describe your musical skills, interests, and achievements.
Applications can be submitted by hand to the MCCB Scholarship Committee or the MCCB Music Director or online to [email protected]. Submit the application form, essay, and recommendation letter all at the same time.
COLLEGE STUDENTS College students must provide proof of acceptance or current enrollment in a college program, maintain membership in their college music ensemble, and maintain good academic standing. College students may use the scholarship for any purpose related to their education.
HIGH SCHOOL, MIDDLE SCHOOL, and HOME SCHOOL STUDENTS High School, Middle School, and Home-Schooled student must use the scholarships for private instrument instruction, or music camp attendance, or purchase and/or repair of an instrument. The scholarship funds may go directly to the appropriate provider
